February 2023 Newsletter

Our next General Membership meeting will be on Saturday February 25, 2023, at Villa Mosconi Restaurant. 69 MacDougal St, New York, NY 10012 at 12:30 PM.

I will send out a Zoom Link shortly for anyone that isn’t attending but would like to join us remotely.

Having nominated our candidates for the open officer positions at the December meeting, our elections took place at the January 21, 2023, meeting.

–       Our Annual Father’s Day Picnic will take place on Father’s Day, Sunday June 18, 2023, at Krucker’s Farm in Pomona New York. Ticket info will be available soon.

–       Sunday October 15, 2023, 12PM-5PM. Our 54th Annual Scholarship Dinner Dance and Awards. Russo’s on the Bay, Queens NY. Ticket info will be available soon.

 

–       Friday March 3, 2023, 6:30 PM-9:30 PM at St. Saviour High School in Brooklyn.

Fellow Member Joe Cavanna and his group The Excellents (Coney Island Baby), have a great new website with upcoming tour dates, videos, bios and more. https://the-excellents.com/ There are two upcoming shows in our area in July and August 2023 If you’re going to one of Joe’s shows, let me know and I’ll see if we can get a group together.

Thanks to all those that mailed or paid their 2023 dues in person. If you’re not sure if you owe more than the current year, send me an email and I’ll let you know your status.

Dues are $30. annually for members under 65 years of age.

If you’ve paid at least 10 years of dues and are over $65. Your annual dues are $15.

Life Member $0. (If you know or think you qualify as a Life Member in 2023, let me know)

Applications are available on our website. Follow the instructions on the Application, email them to us as a PDF or Word Document. Please send all the required documents in one email. A digital portrait of the applicant Must be in a jpeg format.

2023 Scholarship Fund Donations and Journal Page Contracts are available for download on our website. Donor Page Contributions can easily be made through PayPal, even without using a contract, naming your honoree or in memory of loved ones.

Dear Fellow members and Friends of the Societa’,

I hope that you and your families are having a Great, Healthy, Happy and Prosperous start to 2023.

Our next General Membership meeting will be on Saturday January 212023, at Villa Mosconi Restaurant. 69 MacDougal St, New York, NY 10012 at 12:30 PM.

Please let me know if you plan to attend by emailing, calling, or texting me with the number in your party and their names by Tuesday January 17th, 2023.

October 2022 Newsletter

Dear fellow members and friends of the Societa’,

I hope that you and your families are doing well.

Our next General Membership meeting will be on Saturday October 15, 2022, 12:00 P.M. at Villa Mosconi Restaurant 69 MacDougal St, New York, NY 10012 – Tickets to our Scholarship Dinner Dance will be available at the meeting.

We will need a headcount on who is attending a couple of days beforehand. Please RSVP to: societa.val.trebbia.e.val.nure@gmail.com with the number of people attending with you no later than Wednesday October 12, 2022.

Tickets to our 53rd Annual Scholarship Dinner Dance will be available at the October 15th meeting.
They are also available now for purchase through PayPal on our Website. Adult Tickets are $130. per person and Children 2-12 are $65. per person.

Our first meeting at Villa Mosconi on September 24th, 2022 was a huge success. We had a great turnout. The food and the service was excellent! Thank you to Jerry Leonardi and his staff for taking such great care of us.

Thank you to Carmen and Paul Bazzini for providing the wine they import from Cantina Val Tidone. A price list can be found on our Facebook page if anyone is interested in purchasing Paul’s Wines. They have a great selection as many of our members already know and purchase wines from them.

Please support our Scholarship Program by donating to our annual event or taking an ad out to honor a Scholarship recipient, promote your business, or in memory of loved ones. Journal Contracts are available on our website. The Journal Ads are due by October 10, 2022.

The Società Val Trebbia e Val Nure was established to celebrate the American immigrants originating from the Trebbia and Nure river valleys in the province of Piacenza, within the region of Emilia Romagna, Italy.

The objectives of our organization are to:

  • promote our glorious culture by spreading knowledge and understanding of our Piacentini heritage;
  • provide scholarships to students, based on merit to attend higher learning institutions;
  • raise funds for charitable purposes to aid in emigrant relief, for other charitable organizations.
